Four skilled women artisans from the Atlas mountains in Morocco come together to make our sabra cactus silk cushion covers. How they’re made:

Step 1 Harvesting: Women carefully extract fibres from Agave leaves, crushing and soaking them to release the silky threads.

Step 2 Spinning: The extracted fibres are hand-spun to create fine silk threads ensuring each strand is of the highest quality.

Step 3 Dyeing: Natural vegetable dues are used to infuse vibrant colours into the silk threads.

Step 4 Weaving: Using traditional hand-looms, the women intricately weave the dyed silk threads into beautiful patterns, each cushion telling a story of centuries old craftsmanship.

Step 5 Finishing touches: The cushions are left to dry in the sun to achieve their unique colour and a metal zipper is added.

A sustainable and cruelty-free alternative to using real silk and their production process doesn’t leave any carbon footprint.

As each individual cushion cover is handwoven, hand dyed and hand washed in different weaver’s homes, natural variations in size, tone and braided colour may occur from the image shown.
